"one day" was my favourite until i heard "we sing the body electric." after that, it was actually Kyson's remix of "we like you when you're awkward." excellent pacing. "...and so we destroyed everything" is probably one of if not my favourite cut from their debut. i guess my taste evolves as they do.

My second favorite track of theirs is also on their debut LP though, with that track being (Hello) Cloud Mountain. Another incredibly uplifting song, and I love the buildup to the heavier section towards the end as well.

It's pretty good! I'm sure some of the tracks will have to grow on me but I'm really loving Traced In
Constellations (they debuted it live last July and I swear not once did I forget that beautiful lead
hook in the lead up to this album), The Stars Are Stigmata and Something Like Avalanches. Need to take
a few more listens before I form a better opinion.

And Amphoteric, I totally feel the love for the title track of their last album. Absolutely amazing song and definitely my favourite by these guys. I really hope they keep it on the live rotation.

Dammit, was hoping this would grow but it's doing the opposite.

i'm sorry to hear that, Amphoteric. i guess it's a matter of taste to a certain degree; smw are slowly diverging from the classic definitions of post-rock and this album is quite a change from their earlier work, albeit quite familiar as well.

this album rules. so much more consistent than the last. theyve veered much further way from explosions in the sky and much closer to russian circles. it has so much energ to it. i love to me they are birds and a gaze blank from their last album, but none of the other songs lived up to that energy. not the case with this album.

Is the debut good too? I'm just listening to this right now but never listened to their other album.
|
| |
yes very good but its more like explosions in the sky. a bit more focused on melody rather than heavy riffs. more insane drumming though.

Their second EP is my favorite. It's also their most unique I'd say.
