I thought the overall instrumental work on here was fine. It's the production that's the weakest part on here.

For been the first time of mike shinoda producing an album is far from being bad, still it has some flaws. Anyways, this is more solid than any of their works with rick rubin. Debate me

His work may be simplistic, but most of the guitar solos are just bad. He tries to do some cool stuff but horribly fails on this album... I don't mind simplicity, but he just doesn't do anything cool to make it nice simplicity, it feels like he just isn't able to do anything better...

The problem with this album was that they praised the instrumental works to heaven "Rob practiced 6 months for Guilty all the Same" while the drumparts aren't even that hard

Dude if you are expecting something at the level of the shit made by Dave Lombardo, Neil Peart or Gar Samuelson you should check antoher band, for the standards of alt rock the drumming of bourdon is very good, a little bit simplistic but still tasteful as hell

I wasn't expecting that, but I could probably learn GatS in a few weeks and I never had drum lessons. I don't expect LP to go full prog (it would be awesome) but most of the time I'm just waiting for a cool drum part or nice fill in their songs, which just never comes...

Brad has some bad solos, like in pieces or the one in wastelands. But the solos in a line in the sand, keys to the kingdom and mark the graves are well constructed and they have some sort of catchiness. Besides he uses well the influences of janes addiction, a7x and black flag is 80 % of the album, the mistakes realted to the guitar work are seen more in wastelands and war but still those trakcs have good things IMO

Actually most of the album has bettter drumming parts the guilty of the same, rebellion has some really cool drumming parts and the ending of mark the graves is legit in that aspect, besides, I had drum lessons years ago, those parts are not that complicated but they are far from being easy, there are just few flaws related to the drumming in tracks like all for nothing or until its gone, still the first one is fun as hell

I'm still most disappointed with the closing 'epic' track... Only liked the intro

The epic track is cool as shit, far better than the little things give you away.

Is eclectic, powerful, and despite of chester's problems he brings a wonderful performance. Still mike should add the next time a longer solo, more rap parts, more scratching and the screams should rape everything

Nope, I just defend with burning passion Hybrid Theory, Hybrid theory EP, Meteora and the hunting aprty; MTM and ATS both are a 2,5 IMO ( The first one is messy, it has great songs but feels disjointed and big part of the ballads are awful ,the other one has a good concepts, good electronic elements and decent lyrics but big part of the songs are boring, the instrumentation is bland and there lots of problems with mike's and chester's vocales) ; I like reanimation and Living Things but they are far from being perfect ( they are between 3 and 3,5) and disliked sweet hamsters and recharged.

By the way, TLGYA is a great ballad but still it needs something more and ALIS is electic, the instrumentation is far better and is more intense.

The drumming on this isn't particularly difficult, but they probably did less drum editing on this and used full takes. It'd take a little while longer to get right in one go.
