The last album I enjoyed by these guys was Doomsday Machine. I should add that I haven't listened to that in 7 years or so

Man this is A LOT better than any other recent Arch Enemy I've heard. It's certainly nothing ground breaking. There are some pretty awesome guitar riffs/leads here and there, but some seriously cringe-worthy choruses..

tell him to not be a plebeian anymore and then link him to rasputins essential death metal list and tell him to check out all the demos first

This band hasn't released anything worth while in a long-time. Quite a shame actually

Rise of the Tyrant was good. This is better than their last album but it's just so by-the-books and

uninventive that it's painful to listen to.

All of modern melodic death metal's worst traits are wrapped up in a bitter package known as War Eternal, a fatal blow to Arch Enemy's already-dwindling reputation.

And that is that. No single metalhead on this earth can argue this unless this is the first time you've listened to melo-death.

The title track, for instance, utilizes a grand total of one note (C) for most of its main riff, before devolving into a boring mid/fast-tempo set of melodies that sound recycled right out of a Carcass record.

Ummmm you know who used to be their axeman? hahahaha

Awesome review otherwise, fuck this band so hard. Michael Amott is total waste of talent.

hey, don't put those two together

They used to put out some stellar material and I still go back and listen to it once in a while.

Pretty much, only by now their style has completely worn out its welcome.
