the barred B or C? although i'm listening to the original and you're right, i think they play something else in the studio version

The B sounds a little off to me when I play it to the studio version.
His finger placement is so weird in this video... and the guitar is slightly angled up and is making it hard to figure out what he is doing.
He is definitely playing the same note with his middle finger from the B to the C, tho. When he moves his hand up, he plants the middle back down on 3 (D) of the B (2nd) string.

And it looks like he is just moving his index from 2 to 3 on the A string between the B and C chord. The way he is playing the B and C chord is a little strange tho. It looks like he is using alternative voicing than a standard barre chord for either. I think he is leaving the high E open on the C chord, which is why he is playing the D note with his middle finger instead of just barring his index.
Actually, it doesn't look like he is using a barre chord for either. He might be leaving the high E open for both.

mmmm it looks like you're right about both the lack of barre and the d.
leaving the d on a c chord is really weird, it's like a sus2/major chord (is that even a thing?)

It's a little bit of a better view. He's not even using his ring finger on the C chord, and it looks like he is using the same pattern from the E to the B, because he doesn't even seem to change the way his fingers are formed when he switches.

In this case it would be considered a C9 chord, I believe. Normally it would be voiced this:
0
3
0
2
3
X
You could also do it with a 3 on the high E, too, add another G in there. I usually prefer either of those to a standard open C, actually.

hmm, so are you thinking the chord he's playing is:
0
3
0
5
3
x
? that would be a C add9 I think, since you're not playing a Bb (C9) or a B (Cmaj9).
Does that look right to you? I'm still having a hard time reading his finger positioning

Yeah, I am pretty sure he is doing that on the C.
I'm still not totally sure about the E and B, but I know he is doing a similar position on both since the formation of his hand doesn't seem to change at all. None seem to be barres, tho. I think he is leaving the high E open on the first 3 chords.

Yeah I think what I did works, the position is the same except the index finger moves 'back' one fret (relative to the shape of the other two chords). you could probably play the 4th fret on the G with the ring finger if you wanted (B) making it a Cmaj9 (sounds pretty good to my ears) but I think Christian is lifting it up.
I'm pretty sure none of those are barres. I saw the shape and just assumed it lol

Ha ha, right. I kind of figured, too, until I saw how his index finger is arched.
Mike Herrerra? As in the dude from MxPx? I did not know that he has a solo act. I don't think I know any of the others.
