I just realized that if you switch the first two letters in TSOP, it spells STOP.

Even the album doesn't want to listen to itself.

And if you spell it backwards, it says POST. As in STOP POSTING.

It says POTS another way, which is like a false indication of the actual drum tones in the album.

This > Symbolic [2], but they are both incredible.

I agree with Demi, although the rating difference is quite marginal. I still have no idea what people mean by "lack of flow" on this album, it sounds like just another well-composed Death record to me

this album rules hard [2], and who is a Table who only rates Death to say it has a lack of flow?

I think it's less to do with the music and more to do with the production and high placement of the vocals that bothers me.

Listen to Scavenger of Human Sorrow. Notice how once the typical Death guitar solo ends, everything stops, and we're all of a sudden listening to a deep, calm bass. Absolutely nothing led up to it, it breaks the flow of the song, and it seems as if Chuck just copied and pasted parts from different songs together. Shit like this can be found all over the album.

It's just a different songwriting choice. Yes it's weird, but since it's all over here and he's made three albums before this of well written prog/death metal that didn't do it, he obviously did it on purpose on here. Whether you like it or not is just a matter of opinion but you can't just say it's bad or an example of poor writing.

Shit like this is found in literally every one of Death's progressive albums. Why did the main riff of Suicide Machine randomly stop and turn into that 6/8 section out of nowhere? Why did the second half of Zero Tolerance's solo pick up the pace all of a sudden? Why does Jealousy's solo transition so abruptly back into its refrain? It's all a hallmark of Chuck's songwriting. It's on TSoP, as well as Death's other records.
