their guitar tone is such an integral part of their sound at this point. it makes those off kilter harmonies that they build the basic riff structure on that much meatier its sweet

Greek reference aside, "titans" is aptly described
bands like these that take many important aspects missing in many other bands and focus them into
their art are what elevate them to a higher level. dedicated professionals of their craft. I hear the
same qualities in the new Thou record as well.
as much as I love Graves with the choral elements, this has a more substance (more riffs, (nonstop
riffs at that)). albums like this and Mortal Throne of Nazarene are my shit: relentless executions
with infernal and badass instrumentation.

yea speaking of incantation, it feels like their torch got handed to DC
|
| |
even though incantation is definitely a huge influence on this i always felt like these guys sounded quote different from a lot of the generic caverncore bands out there. the hellenic black/death sound cant be understated.
i honestly think the incantation + hellenic black + australian doom combo is the best way to describe their overall sound

speaking of the combo you should listen to Burial Hordes
almost as powerful as this with more black in your coffee and features dudes from this group

hellenic means greek black/death metal
a lot of it actually sucks, but the way dead congregation incorporates it into their sound really works

"Hellenic" is the formal alternative in English for the word "Greek"

Just came back from Dead Congregation live concert in Thessaloniki, Greece.
I had heard their debut once or twice and that was it...
Well, they fucking slayed and that's merely an understatement.-
And the support acts (the bill was Dead Congregation - Grave Miasma - Cruciamentum - The Psalm) were awesome too. Cruciamentum and Grave Miasma used the same drummer who arranged/switched drumming styles between both sets with the same ease a random person drinks tap water.
Got the album too, will spin it tomorrow.
