it partly has to do with the fact that it's very white and I don't like sites with clean white as their primary color
I'd probably be a little more fine with it if it was greyish like on this site

its worth dealing with for access to the best music database on the net, and the lack of spam/trolls/retards that fill this site more every day.
but it fills a different role than sput. I come here to discuss, and I use RYM to discover. maybe one day ill make a complete migration to rym but at this point im not ready

most of the trolls make dumbs lists that ignore. its a shame but not really that big of a deal.
i'm not trying to argue about the sites though. its all about discovering great music doesn't really matter how you do it.

yeah sputnik and RYM are two fundamentally different sites geared towards different things. sputnik is more about networking/community and rym is just a user heavy database with good cataloging features
they both serve different purposes
|
| |
Yeah fair enough, I'm definitely not the person it was made for because after I'm done doing whatever archiving I need to do or whatever I'm just like what do I do now, it just sort of gets boring. I don't feel the need to dig out new music every second, it's usually a binge thing for me
Doesn't really help that my interests are somewhat gearing towards things not even the people who enjoy it are too active in discussing over there, for some reason

New Agalloch is out and we're talking about the white ep and some other music site, good sign eh?

lol Kole
seriously though, i want some examples of how rate your music has better averages than sputnik? sounds like a personal preference that is being presented as a fact:
relatively fair and balanced averages for albums (as long as you arent braindead)
you're essentially saying you agree with their ratings more, therefore they have a better userbase? or are you just saying there's less jackasses that will give shit a 1 or a 5 for no reason?

I'm surprised this has a higher rating than Marrow does on RYM

Album Rating: 2.5
its way too early to tell obviously, but i think marrow is wayyy better than this
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
Agreed. Marrow is like a 4.2.

I think this is a good album, but it makes Marrow seem a hundred times better than it did before.

Most unenjoyable review I've ever read

Album Rating: 2.5
Bad review. I didn't really like it on my first listen, but I like it a bit more now. I'll just keep listening before I rate it.

I think this and Marrow are round about the same atm.

seriously though, i want some examples of how rate your music has better averages than sputnik? sounds like a personal preference that is being presented as a fact:
All sites have a bias to them depending on the makeup of their userbase. This site tends to rate lower because it presents a more open interpretation through it's comment section and thus more harassment all around (trust me, this influences ratings hard). RYM is structured in a way where it's more personal.
|
| |
the ratings are almost always higher here though

i know what you mean about the peer pressure wiz, thats true
|
| |
Yeah it seems like almost everything on RYM has an average rating around 3
|
| |
basically what wiz said, since rym is more based around cataloging instead of a community the ratings tend to be a bit more conservative and less prone to being influenced by prerogatives.
but that certainly isnt always the case and (as with everything else) you have to know when to look for discrepancies. like if something has a 4 average based on 5 votes it really means nothing. it certainly isnt unbiased but its better than most other places.

Can we all agree that this discussion about rym is really stupid
