Glossy an album with so many different layers? Too over the top? How could anything be too over the top? Unless ''over the top'' doesn't mean ''perfect'', I think that's impossible. Well, obvious would be reasonable, you know what to expect from Epica, but then again, that can't justify a 2.0. Now, as for tasteless, it depends on your tastes so I can't speak.

The lyrics suck something bad but it's made up for by pretty much everything else. It's a great example of an album that's so over the top it works.

Tbh there are far, far, far, far, far, far, far worse lyrics than the ones made by epica, sure, they are not 10/10 but they are decent anyways

preordered forever ago and still haven't gotten it yet. I refuse to listen until it comes and the good reviews make me oh so tempted to listen online.

Will give this a go, RFTI was pretty awesome though and none of their other albums have been as satisfying.

This seemed like an improvement over Requiem. They made a nice sequel to "Kingdom of Heaven."

"The Fifth Guardian" reminds me of the Japanese influence in Wintersun's "Time I". Not sure exactly what influence Epica put in this track but it also has that "Eastern" sound to it. It's just so magical. It makes me feel like a kid watching a favorite Chinese movie just like so long ago. Ahhh I'm feeling so homesick. Love this track.
