woah i dunno what's going on here. i think the huge sound of this record owes a lot to the way the drums were recorded and mixed: bringing out the low-end of the kit with the higher-mixed bass drum and that deeper snare sound gives each song this pounding quality that adds so much momentum and weight, and that slight resonance on every snare hit fits the atmosphere that the band is going for.

honestly, everything sounds great. it's just the snare is the same exact tone for every hit which is a sound that can be appealing and is usually used in metalcore and post-hardcore music. It's created by a technique called drum triggering, where the drummer will play the part, but within the recording software a sample is triggered to create consistent drum tones. However, i think a more dynamic drum sound would fit this music much better. Even in the mellower sections the snare is still SMACKing away. i know im being super nit-picky, but it did bother me while listening to this record
