I swear there's something genius about this band that's hard to pinpoint

Emmure's secret is that they're a class-act in a genre combination that is almost inherently not classy. They get within a knife's edge of being a joke like Attila but stay grounded.

Emmure's secret is that they suck. And I promise that Attila think they're unironically cool, and also suck. The guitarists are pretty competent though.

One day people will look back on Emmure the same way they do on guys like van gogh and such who could barely make money in their time but were later seen as artistic geniuses. I'm telling you guys Emmure understands something only people in a thousand years will.

They understand how to make shitty music. No one is going to be looking back at Frankie and think he was a genius for writing songs about Ryu from Street Fighter and UFOs.

It's how they hide everything behind noise that makes it feel like you're trapped in an enraged hulk. Some might find it the opposite but I find their riffs refreshingly subtle despite the overall signature not being subtle. It probably has more to do with the guitarists legitimately good rhythm awareness. There is a difference between this band and most scenecore imo even if it sounds similar on the surface. It's just up to the fans of the genre to hear that difference.

I actually didn't know about this band until recently even though they started with scenecore in the late 2000s. They've really changed since then. The nu-metal influence is really awesome too.

Band is trash. Felony made me literally have to take a shit. But Rusted Over Wet Dreams and MDMA are kind of bops.
