Sometimes I wish Tosin would just go all out clean fusion. Like the junz are cool but they just don't grab me like the clean parts do.

Eh. I must be doing something wrong because I still can't get into these guys.

if you don't like them you don't like them simple as that. I have plenty of buddies who don't like them at all so

Ya but I can't figure out why and it's bugging me, yaknow? I like Reflux, and it ain't the junz because I dig Uneven Structure, Vildhjarta and Fellsilent heaps. It's just...something.

@Sitar Vildhjarta are techy af and I dig other tech bands like Arusha Accord and Dimi-era TDEP as well. I'm confused.

The addition of Garstka brought them over the top. I can't wait to hear what they do next.

technical acrobatics are a poor substitute for songwriting skills

Most classical compositions were extremely complex along with jazz, yet I don't hear many argue that Miles Davis was a bad song writer. Do you just not like complex music?
I think the song writing on this is far more consistent than 90% of modern Prog metal for its songwriting alone. Raw technicality can be annoying but I don't think this album is a good example of that. It has tons of variety, and every song has a structure that makes sense to me, whereas their last two albums certainly have their moments of mindless wankery. I think they've come a long way.

i said they're a poor substitute. i like plenty of complex music, and many great artists have both. listening to a dude wank for an hour, even if it's structured wanking, is no substitute for a band that knows WHEN to wank

Agreed. Restraint is everything; hence why I like bands like Camel so much. Everything on their first four albums was
balanced either perfectly, or exceptionally well.
I see what you're saying though. Idk. I might listen to this down the road and find myself bored to tears. That's more or less
what happened with me as far as bands like Dream Theater go. With the exception of a few albums, I can't stand it.
I still really enjoy this though, but it might be at least partially due to the fact that I am an eight-string guitarist. Tosin was the
reason I got an eight-string years ago. His playing never fails to blow me away. If I wasn't a guitarist, it is possible that I'd be
bored by it along with related artists.

I wish he'd do one for Physical Education.
There aren't any tabs for it as far as I know.
