this should not exist
but i gotta admit it's pretty fun

cyg has no soul
|
| |
based on the few tracks I've heard off this it's probably a big hard throbbing 3.0
|
| |
havent heard but someguest digs it so its probably fucking terrible
|
| |
I mean objectively speaking its horrendous but only robots like cyg think objectively
|
| |
if you get past the weeaboo anime theme song vocals its pretty cool
some of the riffs are actually heavy and metal so its better than pretty much any modern deathcore for that at least, but that's not a huge feat

I would have gave it a 3 but Megitsune is so awesome I had to make it a 3.3, rounded to 3.5.

don't understand where the name "BABYMETAL" comes from sounds more like sugar rushed japs than infants though

brb relistening to Megitsune for the 873289479084792873 time

@Fear "According to Kobametal (the band's producer), Babymetal's name came to him by revelation (as a "divine message"). It is a play on the words "heavy metal". "Baby" may indicate cuteness, "metal" – intensity. Also, he has come to like interpreting it as "newborn metal".[20] In an interview for Razor TV while in Singapore in late 2013, the band members also used the latter interpretation. They stated their brand of metal was a newborn genre, and that was what "baby" in "Babymetal" stood for.[7]"

@Emyay: A quick guide of the album for you, track by track to see what's good:
BABYMETAL DEATH: Standard opener, far better in a live scene
Megitsune: Fucking superb, that's a no brainer. Best on the album
Gimme Chocolate: Great song, catchy as fuck chorus, just overall fun
Iine!: Outside of the chorus and the intro, this is pretty bad (dear god the 'growls' and rap breakdown is cringeworthy). It tried to do a Trancecore song but failed.
Akatsuki: X-Japan/Power Metal worship, pretty awesome song with Su-Metal giving a brilliant performance although the clean production mades the energy on this track sound neudered.
Doki Doki ☆ Morning: Same lines as Gimme Chocolate but not as good
Onedari Daisakusen: Babymetal goes Limp Dipshit, awful.
4 no Uta: Bollocks, but not as bad as the previous track.
Uki Uki ★ Midnight: Second best on the album, the obscene Dubstep breakdown + the great poppish verses makes this a winner.
Catch Me If You Can: Standard rocker, nothing much here minus a great chorus
Rondo of Nightmare: Really basic composition + shitty neutered guitar tone makes this track meh when it could have been awesome.
Head Bangya!!: Really solid, as it says in the title great headbanging ^_^
Ijime Dame Zettai: This is so dumb, stupid and over the top....I love it.

Standard opener doesn't seem like a very fair description for the opener. It's by far the heaviest track and kickstarts things pretty well with lots of energy. I more or less agree with the rest of the descriptions

wow thanks for the track by track. gonna check some of the better ones.
i was just reminded that i showed a couple friends megitsune and they just couldn't really get down with it. it was too "weird" for them, which i understood to a certain extent. i was hoping they'd catch on to how fun / catchy it was but when you're really not used to j-pop and metal at all, its gonna sound 'weird' to you i guess

@calculatinginifity - Hard to argue with any of those. I liked Rondo of Nightmare a little better and would put Akatsuki as the second-best, but that's about it. They really should have axed Onedari and 4 no Uta.

@pedro: I really like Akatsuki don't get me wrong, I just wish the production was better. If they had the production like on X Japan's Dahila, then it would be be fucking awesome. And yes, they really should have scrapped Onedari and 4 no Uta.

Their music is being taken seriously but I think everyone's aware of the inherent silliness of the
concept. In fairness, Babymetal is all about the live show. The "I" DVD is awesome.
