They all came from the same area, but except from the slightly gloomy and downtrodden vibe, comparing Pearl Jam, Nirvana, AIC and Soundgarden to one another is a bit apples and oranges. Nirvana's the punk rock one, Pearl Jam's the classic rock one, AIC is the heavy metal one; Soundgarden was rather metal up until Badmotorfinger until they went more into the experimental rock side of things with Superunknown.
