saint merat, i'm fairly sure he would be capable of all the polyrhythms that haake is, and his speed/technique/precision are absolutely impeccable

I'd choose Saint Merat over Haake every day of the week all year. I honestly couldn't ask for anything more in terms of drum performances in DM.

Honestly very little like that feeling I get when the guitars kick in on Drown Within. Such an incredible start to the album.

@Archelirion thou i highly praise this album, just listen to the first track of Lost Soul - Immerse in Infinity, thats some crazy start of a tech death album too.

While on first listen I definitely still prefer Drown Within, this IS some pretty awesome tech death. Reminds me slightly of Hate Eternal I think.

honestly I'm partial to Haake. I think his technical prowess is absolutely impeccable. but that's not to say that Saint Merat isn't a fantastic drummer as well

they're both incredible drummers, that is not even debatable. I think I prefer Saint Merat's drumming though considering that he keeps it highly technical while also more varied and creative. btw, Haake is my neighbour ^^. see the guy every now and then around town.

Watching the drum tracking videos that they always seem to release is something else, yeah. I think comparing Haake and Merat is pretty tricky/fruitless because the styles they play are too different. It's like comparing a left-back to a deep-lying playmaker.

no, but the drummer in my band did down at the blues bar down the street. but they mostly had a long conversation about microbrewery brews instead which I'm sure he found refreshing. overheard him last week talking about how Jens' gf (I assumed) is a witch haha.

Yea man Haake is rad, the drumming on Bleed is out of this world

I like Jamie better but their styles aren't the same at all
