well people are wrong about different stuff, but my take on this is that it's a good album but disappointing bc it's not even close to habits and is basically the first sign of regression in tde (we were essentially enchanted into thinking this could never happen given all of their output thusfar). not certain on rating yet (writing a review atm and that'll probably flesh my rating out for me) but it's like a 3.5 or so?

You really think this is worse than HnC? I honestly think it's a big improvement, Q was much more consistent with

this release than Habits, which had a bit of filler. Also Suga Free's verse is great, he's charismatic and funny, great

flow too.

Completely disagree with this review and what people are saying in the comments. Q is a far better rapper than A$AP Rocky, isn't even debatable. The ski-mask/race thing is just pointless and you're looking into something that isn't even there. I'm not sure what people were expecting from Q, a rapper who embodies the whole gangsta-rap, boom bap, pussy and drugs life (hell, 50 cent is his reason for rapping). Oxymoron offers some reflection but this was never going to be GKMC and Q never intended it to be. Don't see this as a regression either, this is an improvement imo.

Glad to see people are playing the race card for me. I was just making a comment about how he's literally faceless on the cover.

So? it's just meant to be menacing, why are you using it as an argument against Q's sense of identity?

The ski-mask is to do with the album title, it represents the bad things he's done to do good by his daughter (making money to provide etc). I'm pretty sure he's mentioned that somewhere online.

I don't have an inherent problem with you criticizing his lack of identity, but using the cover as an example comes off as artificial and desperate when it clearly has another purpose in mind.

Schoolboy Q said the album would chronicle gangsta rap and Crip history, stating the album is about:

"L.A., the real L.A., raw and uncut, it's not the watered down L.A." Schoolboy Q voiced he grew up in

the heart of Los Angeles and he wanted to "put the real heart of L.A. into music." - wikipedia. this

sounds like he is saying this album has a concept to me?this is a average album it fails in

comparison to habits & Contradictions.from the strength of H&C i was super hyped this did not live up

to my expectations.this has some solid tracks but for me some a lot of the tracks are just meh.Suga

Free on Grooveline Pt. 2 spitting that legendary pimp shit dude's flow is like a fine cognac!

yeah, but he had to cut a few songs and add some so I don't think it fits the original concept anymore.

And what purpose might you be referring to?

It's just supposed to look menacing, whilst indicating that the figure is Q thanks to the bucket hat and that he's a gangster, thanks to the ski mask.

And is it just me or does your inquiry contain thinly veiled condescension?
