I can see why people could either hate this with a passion or love it completely. Some of the lines are really cringe-worthy, but I think it's one of those cases where it just wouldn't be the same without it's occasional awkward flatness. It's an album about coping with death and mortality, but it's also about being flawed and imperfect. I think at the heart of the album is this struggle to communicate something that's very difficult to put words to, and those moments where he falls flat in communicating this seem almost deliberate, like a sort of acknowledgment that sometimes we fall short of saying what we're trying to say.

I can empathize with that because I'm an awkward shit, so I love this album to death.

well theres good crab cakes and then there are bad crab cakes. i reckon if you got one of the bad ones on your first go round, that mighta kinda turned you off to the whole endeavor (of crab cakes)
