Spain and specially Mexico tend to have most of the mainstream pop-rock acts and stuff like that with a commercial approach

As for the more influential and serious artists, Chile and Argentina tend to be looked up upon for both, technique and originality and specially the lyrical content that you tend to find in south american rock

Maybe you're a better judge of that than I, but I'd definitely place Mexico on a pedestal in terms of technique and originality given bands like Caifanes

Dunno about Caifanes. They have a standard new wave/post punk style that actually was pretty late in time when compared to most bands of the genre

Cafe Tacvba's Re might be a good example, but I don't know if it reaches the standard of bands like Soda, Los Jaivas, Los Prisioneros or pretty much anything by Spinetta

That opinion might change once you listen to Amor Americano and Sube a Nacer Conmigo Hermano but if it doesn't...

Warm and enthusiastic stuff. Very exotic too. Not really familiar with that sounding, but I like it.

I first and foremost heard flamenco and stuff into jazz music, mainly Chick Corea, but also Dave Weckl and not to forget Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia - The Guitar Trio.

Anyway

Very exotic with strong southern hemisphere's accent if not flamenco centered. Olé!

Que alegria leer algo en español en este sitio abandonado de la mano de Dios.

Y buena lectura por cierto, mr. gentleman.

Curioso disco.
