I feel like this sound is what J. Cole has been trying to achieve since Forest Hills, but he just can't find it and his projects normally just sound like NyQuil rap.
Meanwhile, Isaiah manages to achieve it on his first release. Like this low-key aesthetic on the beats, and monotone vocal style works for Zay, but makes J. Cole sounds so lifeless and boring.
