deathconsciousness is such an immersive record -reminds me so much of unwound's leaves turn inside you in that respect this is a little more straightforward, distilled version of that formula; not in a bad way, though

@House: Exactly the reverse for me. I much prefer ambient/drone and (to a lesser extent) shoegaze to post punk or post rock. I guess that explains why I like this one but not Deathconciousness.

really? I hear more post-punk in DC and hardly any post-rock, if any
I like the ambient/drone stretches here but they feel unrealized, for some reason
whereas every moment and track in DC feels so necessary, which is impressive given its scope and length

This has a much more ambient/drone feel to me. I'm not an expert on post rock but I felt DC had much stronger post rock influence than this.

Yeah I pretty much agree with what you're saying here, although I see it as a positive. This is much more refined whereas its predecessor feels somewhat over ambitious to me and well, basically in need of refinement.

On my first listen, so far this is damn cool. Defenstration Song kinda reminds me of Joy Division

There's a big Unknown Pleasures "thing" going on here definitely but it freshens it all up and is it's own thing.

This record gives me hope that there's stuff still out there that excites.

Ha yeah and that to Prowler, the Mode are here in spirit as well as a host of other influences.

When this kicks in I can literally see my self in a Sisters of Mercy T-Shirt sipping a snakebite and black at some Goth Club

circa 1987 being miserable as fuck

This is an easier place to start than DC imo, just due to the length.

This album was the first of theirs when I was looking for a stream, so pure coincidence it was this and not their debut I started with, lol

I dig this for the drone and shoegaze influences more than the post punk vibe.
