A cover.

Where the instruments are spot on.

But Periphery's vocalist absolutely blows compared to Meshuggah's.

And doesn't show anything about song structure, cuz. it. is. a. cover.

meshuggah are a band 100% about rhythm if you're listening for something else then you're listening to meshuggah wrong

Not saying there's no influence, but Meshuggah hasn't done much of anything other than completely

change for worse. At least Periphery isn't just writing one type of song over the course of a whole

album. All Meshuggah is interested in are Polyrhythms and nothing else.

If they actual hit a scale, I think the Earth might fuckin' explode.

Man, when people bring the notion that all Meshuggah does is make one song over and over again it makes me think they have no idea what Meshuggah is about. Clear as day that is exactly what this is.

Wasn't stating literally that it's one song over and over. One STYLE of song.

all their albums are actually pretty different in approach. sure, theyve basically maintained their signature sound since Nothing, but every album approaches the sound in a different way

no point arguing opinions, i was just refuting your original point that the 2 bands should "never be mentioned together", since bulb pretty much ripped his original sound straight from 'shuggah

May be true, but Periphery and Meshuggah aren't close to the same thing. Periphery might be able to cover Meshuggah and get away with it, but if Meshuggah covered Periphery?

I'd just lol.

What? They wouldn't stoop that low so to even think of that makes no sense.

And thus you have just admitted the severe difference between the two.

yes there is an obvious difference, but this band, like 100s of others, take a large part of their sound straight from what meshuggah did many years ago. thats all we sayin

"While we all have lots of bands who influence still...we all rip off Meshuggah!" - Devin Townsend.

Therefore, there ain't no shame.
