because they're completely different experiences with a completely different mood and a completely
different result. That's like saying "why would you jam Heritage when you can jam Morningrise" when
really the only comparison that makes that barely apt is that they're two albums released by the same
band.

In other words, if you were disappointed with the last one, this album really blows.

I was massively disappointed with the last one and well, you can see I love it.

This is my intro to the band, so I don't have any expectations.
I'm really digging it, especially Wings + Opale.

This is some heavenly stuff

Surprisingly poor review; too much redundant background and not enough about how the record sounds.
I'm going to ask you to read it again. It says what it needs to say and that's it. I don't want Adam to bore me with nit-pick details about how fucking ambient this album is. How much detail can you give a largely ambient album anyways?

A lot. Especially with how different each track is, and how this involves rock instrumentation, not
simply synths and keyboard and sampling.

I totally admit that I normally don't go all that in depth in the sound of reviews and try to go for an overall vibe thing, especially when it's a band in which most people are already familiar with the gist of it. Some people dig it, some people don't. I try to keep things as brief as possible while describing moods instead of a lot of technical aspects. If you guys want I could try to break down everything on a much more technical level on the next review where I think it could merit it (next one is The Lawrence Arms, so there's not much to break down on that one).

cont. That being said I really don't like to delve too much into a song A. song B. song C. type thing
because I think that robs from the experience of actually listening to a record for the first time if
you know exactly what to expect.

Check out the single "Opale". If you like that chances are you'll dig the rest of it. If not, knowing you I wouldn't bother after that.

+1
I really wanted to like their new direction but after seeing them play mostly the new stuff I just couldn't do it.
Everything just sounds too simplistic imo.
