"melting sun is better and more substantial but both are 4s"

Pretty much, they don't really sound much alike either way.

true but both could technically be considered shoegaze albums, on extreme ends ofc. but yeah @dbizzles I should look up more of their lyrics I def get that feel

Both came out in the same year and marked the full dive into sunny shoegaze/post rock by blackgaze bands that have had a strong connection due to Neige's collaboration, it's only logical to compare them. I mean, this doesn't sound like Kodama either way and still they are compared since they are by the same band. It's the same principle

Bumping this to a 3.5, sure it's kinda samey but I can't resist that wonderful dreamy gaze sound

Yeah this puts me in the best mood. Never realized until now that Neil from Slowdive is on Away, what an amazing song!

That's probably the weakest here imo ironically.

Recently checked out the bonus track Into the Waves and really dig it, I get why it didn't make the album though.

I'm not really a fan, tbh. Feels super plain.

No more plain than most of what's here really

I think overall most of the songs here are on par with each other although I do have a few highlights. But in general the whole album has a really nice atmosphere which just makes you feel fuzzy inside (at least for me)

Very blissful album. Almost as good as Souvenirs. Other three are best tho.

I disagree. That song particularly sounds like they just had a leftover b-side that they let a friend sing on.

Souvenirs destroys this. Haven't heard Ecailles or Voyages yet but that one will almost certainly remain my favorite.

Ecailles is one of my all time favorites, enjoy Boney. It's probably their most abstract and layered.

Gonna check Ecailles soon for sure. Souvenirs has been steadily growing on me for the last couple weeks until last night I listened to it loud in the dark and something about it just hit super hard, I tell you I was almost ready to 5 the thing. Hopefully it continues to hit me and that wasn't just a random fluke.

Oh man, just wait until you hear the title songs, Ecailles Pt I & II.
