The only other one I've heard is the debut but I know their middle two are considered their best.

Ecallies is top tier stuff for me but yea Voyages is my second fav I'd recommend hearing Ecallies though it's pretty different compared to his debut. I wonder what direction he'll go in for the next one because there won't be any bm vox anymore. If he stays in this direction it may get boring unfortunately :/

didnt really dig this at all. Kinda weird since I like some shoegaze every now and then

shoegaze is good when it has substance and character, but this had all of those things scrubbed away in favor of shininess.

Just baffles me how Neige went from Peste Noire to this

eh. neige was pretty much only ever a session musician for PN, composed like one song maybe and had pretty much zero creative input (though there are some PN songs that flirt with the "softer" sides of black metal anyway). the general transition from raw BM to this actually makes a lot of sense if you listen progressively through the full neige discography starting with tristesse hivernale and vastiia tenebrd mortifera, through alcest to this.

It always kinda makes sense for artists to move away from their harsher side to me

I like it when artists explore new things, like Opeth did.

Well, not technically new, but more like for themselves.

Escailles murders this in the night with its bright sparkly moonlit fingers.

Yea Ecallies slays this by far. The atmosphere on that one is stronger, more affecting and more emotional.
