'Arise' is great yes but resolutely thrash throughout and the drumming keeps to what's expected of that genre mostly - it's a tiny bit of a same'y album. There, I said it. When it's hot it's hot don't get me wrong but the weaker songs on it are just 'the same but less hot'.
The variety on this is welcome - hardcore influence on some tracks, excellent cover version, two great very different instrumentals, 'Amen' and 'Nomad' switch up the tempos and work really well, 'Biotech' is 'Biotech', 'We Who Are Not...' is a decent attempt at something left field.
Then for me the drums have a lot more freedom, they get a bit more tribal, the intro of 'Territory' is orgasmic.
Don't understand the hate/indifference for this album at all unless you are an absolute glutten for just wanting more and more trad(ish) thrash.
