If you want to do it somewhat chronologically, but don't have time for whole discography, this is a great start.

Thanks Evo. Was probably going to start here anyway.

No problem. I mean, they changed their sound many times after this, but you need to know this side of theirs, too.

I'm going chronologicaly (except for The Plague Within, which was amazing). This one hit me hard. Everythings from Nick and Sarah's vox, morose dual leads and those dark riffs are amazing. Such great execution and balance

Very true. There are no more harsh vocals between this and Plague.

I love this album on its own but the fact that it was such a huge inspiration to Katatonia, is just the cherry on top.

I'm a big PL fan but this album...I don't know it never clicks for me the same way it does for others. There are some brilliant stuff here, but I dig Shades and theri latter stuff much better.

@Flug I had the discussion about those vocals on Shades before. I wouldn't really categorize them as growls. They're, of course, very rough, and act as a bridge between Gothic's harsh vocals and Icon's Hetfield-esque shouts.

Deserves a bump!

Underrated band

Indeed. And the songs are all nicely fleshed out; great expanding upon the debut's ideas.
