Angels is honestly the best on here, so if you think that was only solid then idk what you'll think of the full thing.

a 2? that's over the top. I can understand a rating in the 2.8-3.2 range

Ha ha, I guess it's mostly the lyrics that bother me. They are pretty bad. The guitar work and the solo are pretty nice though.

Probably, lol. Most of the lyrics have been not so great from what I have heard, but Ghosts stuck out as especially bad to me.

I'm surprised no one really cares about that pathetic rip off called 12 through 15

Mayday Parade's lyrics have never been their strength. They just used to be a lot better at being believable.

Ghosts is alright except for the way-too-long ending, and Girls is actually one of the few tracks I outright like, just because its hook is actually memorable.

"a 2? that's over the top. I can understand a rating in the 2.8-3.2 range"

I'm torn between a 2 and 2.5, but I'm really frustrated with this album, and I think I give out 2-3 ratings more readily than many Sputniks anyway.

also You Be the Anchor performed by most other punk pop bands would be dismissed as cheesy and pretentious

it's cheesy regardless, but I wouldn't ever consider it pretentious regardless of who made it. I wouldn't like it nearly as much, for sure, and I would be rolling my eyes to the point of getting dizzy were it by someone else. however, it's special in that only mayday could have written that song.

fair enough.

listening to ALIR now just to make sure I can look at this album in the right light. probably gonna review it if i can find the

time.

and yeah the review was basically all about OMG GUYS DON'T COMPARE THIS TO ALIR but you know what? You write a

masterpiece, you will always be judged by it. All Anberlin albums will always be compared to Cities, all Brand New albums

will always be compared to The Devil and God, etc. etc. etc.

Even if a band makes a so called "masterpiece," and the rest of their stuff doesn't quite live up to said album, it shouldn't stop you from enjoying their other music.

Unless they just plain suck, of course.
