His lyrics can be pretty bad but they have to be like Drawing the line bad for me to bad really hard on him.

Same. Ive never really had a problem with his lyrics, even though they aren't great. I just focus on the music.

Drawing the Line's my least favorite song on there, but it's not because of the lyrics, but rather that insipid shitfuck of a chorus. It sounds so disgustingly bouncy and annoying, and it ruins the flow of the album. I still love the rest of the record though

I like tool and dream theater, but I never gave these guys a listen. Is it worth it?

JT, do you like Dream Theater more than PT?

Definitely. DT went downhill rapidly after Scenes From A Memory but I don't hate most of their discog like I do when it comes to PT.

Love the three bands per equal, Tool, DT and PT rules hard. Lol, I'm such a nerd and I'm proud of it

I believe that once you accept that PT isn't very progressive (even their early years), it's a lot easier to like them and appreciate them. I always saw them as more experimental than progressive when it comes to tags. I simply classify their early stuff as psychedelic/space rock and their later stuff as alternative/experimental metal.

He has always said that he kinda dislikes the progressive tag. He doesn't want his band to be labeled as anything. They have elements of ambient, space rock, psychedelic, prog rock/metal. They're really diverse in terms of that.

It sorta reminds me of Queen, who were also against classification like that for a long while. Their Wiki page just puts down their genre as rock, because their range of styles over the years is so massive :P
