there is definite overlap into screamo territory on some of their material
not even gonna argue it lol
melodic hardcore and skramz are two sides of the same coin and are both punk offshoots, and both constantly have overlap with eachother
this band is no exception

im not

but you are. because two genres sound similar sometimes it does not make them the same thing

he's not completely wrong but yeah you can easily differentiate melodic hardcore from screamo

yeah most melocore doesn't even have screaming
|
| |
melo hxc is just hardcore punk with an emphasis on melody. touche does a consistently melodic rendition of early and mid 2000's skramz. telling me im wrong for referring to parts of their music as screamo vs. melodic hardcore is stupid. its splitting hairs because of the overlap. touche sound a lot more like some mid 2000s skramz bands than they do certain bands that are put under the 'melodic hxc' umbrella, but at other times sound more like some melodic hxc bands than they do screamo bands

"yeah most melocore doesn't even have screaming"
but this band certainly does!

i'd like to know which mid-2000s screamo bands you think they sound like
|
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3WPE8PXxHo
they remind me of these dudes sometimes. obviously touche is more flamboyant and cheesy, and also american. i guess these guys could be honestly be considered melohxc too tho so w/e. i think the main point is there a ton of bleed over between genres. there are some melodic hardcore bands that sounds more like angry pop punkers than skramzers, and vice versa.
|
| |
i just dont buy into the whole 'if it focuses on melody over dissonance its melo hxc not skramz' thing
|
| |
I wouldn't call touché skramz but there's definitely skramz in the mix there
"yeah most melocore doesn't even have screaming"
and wtf..? like I guess I'm no expert but every melocore band I listen to screams

most melocore vocalists aren't really screaming though (including touché), at least not in the same screeching manner skramz vocalists are screaming

if you can make out all the lyrics on first listen it's probably not skramz
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
so literally everything this band has ever made
|
| |
when I say screaming I mean not singing, I realise that stylistically melocore and skramz vocalists often differ
|
| |
"if you can make out all the lyrics on first listen it's probably not skramz"
hhahahaha i lold
i guess im an idiot. when it comes to legit skramz like the early 2000s golden age stuff unless i read the lyrics i absolutely cannot understand like 90% of them, depending on the vocalist

well i guess it really depends like which melocore you're talking about
like i was talking about melodic hardcore fused with regular punk rock (bad religion, a wilhelm scream, leatherface, etc.) but i guess yeah most (if not all) melocore artists of this decade like this band have screaming vocals
it's also really easy to differentiate because melocore has readable lyrics and a lot lighter screams until skramz which is the complete contrary
|
| |
"like i was talking about melodic hardcore fused with regular punk rock (bad religion, a wilhelm scream, leatherface, etc.) "
this was my exact point before lol when talking about the blurred lines between certain subgenres. in what way would touche amore EVER sound like leatherface, though both could be considered 'melodic hxc'
