Hmm tbh I'm not really an authority on post metal, but I belief the first one I REALLY got into with Panopticon by Isis. It's pretty accessible imo.

For me I think it went like this. Tool started my quest into heavier stuff and then it lead to Deftones. Oddly enough the band that got me into harsher vocals in general was Alcest, so that led to me re listening to Opeth and Isis, then it just snowballed really.

Thanks man, I'll check that out soon. I've also heard good things about The Ocean's last album which I believe was post-metal so I'll use that as a starting point.

It certainly seems to me like it's impossible to use Sputnik and not inevitably get sucked into metal

good bands to start with are isis and cult of luna. then u should check neurosis and rosetta. the "big four" of post metal they call them

and yeah the oceans last album was amazing. just not really post metal imo. more like prog metal. but that last one was more post than anything theyve done before.

It was very good indeed. Better than Rishloo's album I daresay

Rishloos new one>> this by just a little just cause of my bias towards them. Both don't really sound alike. This has a more traditional prog vibe.

Such a brilliant album. Fun and cheesy at times, but still compelling as hell.

I was curious so I looked it up what KILL rated this and as I was expecting..it's a 3 haha. He's so predictable.

KILL's rating process:

1) Does it thrash or m/ hard?

2) Does it prog hard?

3) Would I call fans of this band homophobic slurs?

If all three get a NO, he gives a 3.
