no. jacob bannon is aggressive. atreyu's lead singing just sounds gurgled.

drummer = better vocalist.

It's not bad by any stretch of imagination. Atreyu comes about as close to mainstream as it gets but still keeps their metalcore roots intact.

antihippy - jacob bannon isn't just aggressive.

As I put in my review of Jane Doe, Bannon defines the word 'intense'.

Atreyu blow (apart from some of the guitarwork)...and that is pretty much all I have to say about them.

i don't know what you guys are talking about, but i was just stating the fact that you say riffs don't make a band and from what i have seen so far of you on this site you are in love with howards' vocals and KSE. i really don't get why they are nothing special and have released practically the same album 3 times in a row with minor differences and each has gotton worse overall.

oh yeah and their riffs are nothing special at all. it took me no time to learn how to play most of their stuff. it's very simplistic stuff and for people saying that they are 1 of the best in the NWOAHM than they should be ablem to write some creative and complex riffs and at least play a few solos.
have released practically the same album 3 times in a row with minor differences
Not trying to add fuel to the fire but if you practically killed a genre in Nu-Metal, brought metalcore to the mainstream and had floods of bands attempting and failing to copy your sound would you be in a huge rush to drastically change your sound?

they should be ablem to write some creative and complex riffs and at least play a few solos.
What happened to solid song writing? Who cares how fast or complicated a riff is if it sounds good it sounds good. KSE is known for creating memorable, heavy and emotional hardcore songs blended with a melodic edge. If you want technical why are you listening to mainstream metalcore? [end rant]

last time i checked converge writes good technical riffs and are one of the biggest mainstream metalcore bands around. i'm not a fan of the vocals at all, but they have talent that is for sure. bringing metalcore to the mainstream wasn't all a good thing considering that lots of bands do the same verse chorus verse chorus thing. it was good in a lot of ways though and i respect them for that. they just keep getting more and more watered down with every release and it's NOT selling out nor is it progression. they just keep adding more and more melody with the same song structures.

i know howard is much better than the converge vocalist because i really do not life converges' vocals at all. by watered down i mean that it sounds poppy. progression means that they have gotton better with each release, which i believe that they haven't. that is just like saying that when in flames added clean vocals to the mix, but it came out horrible (IMO) that they progressed. added something different to each release isn't progressing. i could actually stand TEAH, but ADD is just terrible. i was a fan of their first 2 cd's though, and it isn't all because of jesse. he did do a good job with thee vocals, but i just felt that they were heavier and more of a hardcore element with them which they have lost with these last 2 albums.

Atreyu is pretty severely underrated. They're a great band, and have grown to be one of my favorites. They caught my eye with Suicide Notes & Butterfly Kisses, disappointed me with The Curse, and surprised me at how good this album was. I love the way they teeter between mainstream rock and metal. Ex's and Oh's is one of my favorite songs of all time.

this album is great

i still think the curse is better

because the lyrics mean so much more than most on this album

i have sorta mixed feelings about this album tho

songs like ex's and oh's and the theft

are great at first

but really are kinda mainstream

and not at all like any other atreyu

but songs like "my fork in the road(your knife in my back"

and "our sick story(thus far)"

are pretty much great
