When I heard The New Reign EP, I was pretty quick to dismiss this band, because there was no effort in this release, except for a few easy, but very enjoyable and melodic solos.

With the release of A Higher Place I was caught off-guard, because the band seemed to reduce deathcore elements to the minimum, while adding much more riffing and melodic passages, as well as adding more keyboards.

With the release of The Discovery, I was disappointed, because they've gone back to the chug-fest overall (yes, there were some keyboards, even though they weren't making the songs stronger or anything, just slapped on the top. And yes, it had good solos, but 30 seconds of technicality don't make up for 4 minutes of chugging).

And then there's this. I was really stoked for this one after hearing the preview, since it seemed like they were going back to the Higher Place style partially. But what heard in the end... Gosh, they suck even more now. Keyboards are better, guitar sound is even more generic with even less soloing, vocals are somewhat okay. But that chugging. CHUGGING. During the Machine I just wanted to stop listening, but I still had some hopes. Silly me.

Best songs: Exhil∆r∆te, Source Field, Venge∆nce.

Haters everywhere... I really enjoyed this album, which was quite a surprise regarding the fact that I don't like this band and do not perceive The Discovery as any kind of a masterpiece. I agree with you though, that it's all about chugging, but on this CD it seemed to have been cleverly 'plotted' into all of the songs along with some electronic sounds, which you haters hate.
