I would argue with you but...
that is a perfectly reasonable opinion to hold

For some reason I can't stand TDP at all. My cheap earbuds might play a part, but for me it always sounded kind of thin and compressed in a very dated way, while also lacking the unique charme of the earlier stuff.

Thin is last word I would use to describe TDP, the album is dense as fuck. Try listening to it again with a good pair of headphones if you ever get the chance

"Dense" surely isn't far off, but for the exchange of a certain muddiness, in which the sounds don't gel together very well. Hopefully I'll come to appreciate it with better equipment one day.

Ye you need some considerable sound quality to really appreciate too dark park and skinny puppy in general tbh

Well, to my defence I once had considerably ok headphones from Superlux and a good headphone output. I haven't noticed a change in my preferences when I went back to the old, though. Do you guys have something at above 100$ range, which would "open up" more demanding music?

I don't know, I prefer listening to skinny puppy with headphones (I've used pair of ATH-M50x's for years, slightly over $100) but the first time I heard TDP was from a cheap boom box across the room and it blew my mind then. I find TDP production absolutely amazing how it can have so many hectic layers but still be dance-able

This album. Goddamn, this album.

Seems I rather shouldn't mention the price or (even worse) the age of the earbuds I'm using then. At the moment I'm also not really in the position for an "upgrade" unfortunately, besides getting a bit away from my excessive listening habits in general.
