See, personally I would have gone with the scene with the Architect where he says something like "making that choice at a near subconscious level" or whatever. But as soon as I typed that I immediately thought of The Matrix haha

The first half was really enjoyable, the second half is a drag. He should have split up the vinyl release between the two, haha.

What do you think about the first half of disc 2? I wasn't ever bothered by anything until after Pyrex Nights when I found it to get a little monotonous, but I'm finding that stuff to be pretty great as well now, it just took a few listens because nothing really stands out out the way the earlier stuff does.

I'll have to give it another listen. Nothing from disc 2 stuck with me.

How To Ascend at least is one of the major highlights for me and glass ocean is amazing but only in full context of the album.

lots of reviews of this seem to be saying it's basically more of the same vis a vis dedication, but to me it's a lot more uptempo/aggressive and not quite as dark, as well as being much more detailed in its production

I've heard each track probably once and I don't really understand the problem with trap? Is a sharp snare and some 808s really that big of a deal?

well yeah it's pretty generic. but when incorporated with other ideas like on this then it can be sweet

The problem with trap is that most of it targets the same audience that brostep does, so it basically started off in the state that brostep is in (thousands of shit tracks for every one good track). Kind of sucks because some trap stuff goes so damn hard:

But yeah nothing actually wrong with trap if you can do it right. Almost everything that's trap is bad but not necessarily because of its format. I like when TNGHT does it, when Rustie does it, to a lesser extent when Starkey does, and now I like it when Zomby does it too.

ok maybe i was a lil preemptive. not sure how i feel about the trap (?) stuff, although it's good.

but disc 1 strikes me as more interesting rn
