@Ars
On the contrary, i feel bass is almost drowned in this record whereas in those albums you mentioned, geezer's presence is undeniable.

nothing that sounds like Planet Caravan can sound bad

I did not
They're not bad but I just think they're bland

Does Dear Father end in church bells because Black Sabbath's title track opens with church bells?

"Honestly.... End of the Beginning >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the rest of this album"
last 2:30 minutes of God is the Dead are the best part of the album for me

Rant/mini review time:
Listening to the The End EP's 4 original tracks now and it's fine
Both of these works (13 and The End) are missing that Sabbath variety that's all over their first 6... hell, their first 8 albums.
A lot of people might complain about stuff like Changes, Fluff, Who Are You?, Don't Start (Too Late), Breakout, maybe even Planet Caravan, Orchid etc... because they prefer the badass riffy tracks, but those tracks help keep the album fresh and varied. 13 and The End trade any risks or experiments for just riffs. Even Zeitgeist, which is the closest thing to an out of the box idea on 13, is far riffier than Planet Caravan, which in turn is what hurts it (the song) and the album
A 2 min acoustic track like Laguna Sunrise could've helped break up the dense atmosphere at least
Maybe I'm just easily bored though, but the homogeneity on both the album and the EP makes me wonder if I even want to hear it a 2nd time, it's like the same 3 good ideas repeated over and over across 15 tracks (8 tracks on 13 + 3 bonus tracks + 4 tracks on The End)
also is it just me or are Tony's riffs less distinct than the classics? I know Tony said something about fans not wanting ANOTHER Sabbath album after 13, so that he canceled it and just released The End, go on him honestly...

I think we agree on what, for me, are the 3 main issues with the albums
1. While the riffs are there, they certainly lack the identity and punch they had in the older albums
2. Songs are way too long for their own good
3. It's only a tribute to Sabbath's heavy style and not their softer one. Whatever it is, Sabbath placed a lot more of variety in their sound wether it was in the heavy or soft songs

Isolated Man has a similar lyrical theme as Megalomania, but none of the charm or fun robot voice

It's still a 4 for me tho, cause it is way better than what I'd expect for a band this old to put out nowadays and the songs are still pretty solid for me even if they cannot hold a candle to their older material

I'll give it at least 1 more listen
Currently listening to Megalomania because it's amazing :D

Meh, if it stops people from whining about the softer tracks, so be it.

The thing is I've never had a problem with the softer tracks and them missing makes this album feel like ugh
