Gave some of these songs a jam after a long time today. Wow this is better than most Deftones albums as a whole. Insects is a fucking jam.

Then jam it bro, the bass in Insects is so perfect. Very Justin Chancellor.

i bet if they didnt get so huge they would have evolved into a really good band after this.

Well they aren't exactly that well known but Wasteland was a great hit and a fantastic song at that. They wrote a good stuff after this too.

they were never really huge in the first place. Sure a few of their songs made the mainstream cut but they kinda died off within a few years.

Will always love this album art so much. Cast It Out is still a hard jam.

They are not bad by any means but they are a real step down from this.

Why they chose to omit the extended sections of Cast it Out, Through the Iris, and the t/t from later versions I will never understand. The one in Cast It Out is particularly incredible, and it segues into Wasteland's intro perfectly.

Cast It Out and Through The Iris were the singles that came off of this so I guess they decided to stick with the edited versions in later pressings. Though I'm not sure why they chose to take out Slowly Falling Awake, that song is gorgeous.

Choices for songs to be edited for releases as singles happens all the time, but to replace the original versions with the edited versions on the album, and when the extended part is the best, is ridiculous.

If I ever see them live I'll be sure to ask them why

It probably wasn't the band's choice but yea it's really strange to me cause I've never come across this in music b4. If it weren't for Mongi clarifying, I would've just heard the edited version that's on Spotify.

shame these guys can't seem to deliver the same amount of impact as this album did.

I just found out that the producer for this album also worked on Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish album...
...huh
