I don't agree at all with Omaha but... DAT Sawyer pic... All my Lost feels... I can't stay mad.

Honestly, imo, this WAS the return to form I was waiting for. Lullabies didn't click with me until much later, and Era was fun the first few times, but this album is the Queens I've been waiting for. On edge, dynamic hard rock. I'm as happy as a fucking clam.

After first listen, this didn't immediately strike me as "wow, this is good" but I'm sure over time it will grow on me.

in my experience, queens of the stone age albums usually take a few listens to really sink in.

Songs For The Dead hit me right away. I can see this going up to a 3.5 for me but not much further.

I'd say for me this QOTSA's most consistent record in recent years. Although while it may not have the lows (maybe Vampyre aside), it also misses out on the highs of Lullabies and Era Vulgaris.

Also, props for the A Song for the Deaf love, I feel it doesn't get the attention it deserves next to its 'for the Dead' brother but It's always been my favourite track on the album

I'm gonna nit pick and say that Lullabies to Paralyze hardly had a "robot rock aesthetic." Their self titled? Sure. Lullabies is like Hansel and Gretel after they ate too many mushrooms. And then got chased by a witch. And did some sexy shit. Then got chased by another witch.

Anyway.

Album is incredible...could be my album of the year. I tend to disagree with the Era Vulgaris comment, that album had some great songs.
