Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.

In fact I may actually like the lyrics on this more than those Alligator.

Fight me.

Boxer will probably be my favourite because of how tense it is but this record is hell underrated.

I listened to this in full the other day and it wasn't as awesome as I remembered. Still great, but there are a handful of tracks that didn't hold up for me. I'll listen again and list them tomorrow if anyone gives a shit.

I've gone from just not being able to understand how this could ever be a 5 to not understanding how it couldn't be
It's not their best but it has slowly and steadily since its release become my favorite from them. I could not for the life of me tell you why, and I think that's a big part of it

Maybe one day I'll see the light - for now though I'm just happy this grew on me from a 3-3.5 level to the 5.

Row will take a bit longer to come around :P

I'm looking forward to this not being the most recent National album, see how it stands up then

I'm not sure my ratings can take another National 5

if they ever revise the tracklisting of this album so it isn't their absolute worst songs sitting hand-in-hand with their absolute best, I'll come around pretty hard. but until then

"their absolute worst songs"

Maybe you're being hyperbolic, but have you heard the debut?

you see the only song I don't really enjoy is 'need my girl' and that's a lot of people's favourite so it's hard to know what to cut - 'heavenfaced' sounds a bit unfinished but I actually like Fireproof which is usually held up as the worst thing ever when texturally in the context of the album it works well to me

No-one really counts the debut so I don't either

maybe Sugar Wife from Sad Songs is the worst but Heavenfaced and Sea of Love are right down there with it

Sea of Love that bad? Again, one a lot of people say is a favourite off the album

For me they're no worse than the two songs after Daughters on Alligator

Fair enough Row.

I can sort of understand why people don't love Heavenfaced, but Sea of Love is one of the best here.

it's a bunch of pretty good ideas thrown together randomly like "yeah that'll do for a structure"

Also, I do think This Is The Last Time is their best song, that probably helps it along as my favorite from them

This is the Last Time would be a classic if it wrapped up 45 seconds quicker, the ending kills it's a standalone track appeal a bit
