@theBoneyKing: This one is 10x better than that one. You do know that album was released unfinished because their bass player died of a brain hemorrhage during recording. That’s why it’s called “One Last Laugh in a Place if Dying”. So, most the songs weren’t even entirely finished.

@Trifolium: It is definitely unique. I’ve never made a The Gathering comparison before. In what way are you hearing it?

@Jimbly: I wish I could’ve seen them live. Oddly enough, they’re from San Diego originally, but by the time I heard about them they had relocated to England.

No, there's actually not. This whole album is mostly darker and heavier than that song. The few that aren't are super chill.

They aren't alike in sound but I think they both go for a blend of styles that works incredibly well but no-one seems to copy it afterwards. In that way they resemble each other.

Can't wait to put this on again.

There’s a band called Menagerie and the album is ‘In Moderation’. They have a ‘Mandylion’ vibe going. Maybe a little more gothy. Yeah, I listened to this yesterday again. It doesn’t get old.

"They found something unique that wasn't repeated afterwards even though it worked beautifully."

I suspect Tool heard these guys. But both were inspired by Jane's Addiction so maybe not.

I don't know if they did or not. This definitely sounds like something Tool might have noticed back in their formative days. Except not proggy, of course.

I don't want this band to be hip with the Tool kids. They are mine.

Just realized that the drummer has a band called Mercylane, and they sound very much like a cross between this and Sisters of Mercy
