LOL those guys on the first page who said phantom of the opera is impossible on bass!!!
Nobody said it was impossible. I said it was really hard to play, but that was over a year ago. I'm much better at it now, and the only problem I have with the song now is building up enough stamina to play the entire seven minutes. Either way, the interlude is my favorite part to play.

one of my fav metal songs to play on bass is the 4 horsemen by Metallica. Also Holly Wars by megadeth. Btw do u use a pick or fingers?

I can't believe i haven't left a comment on this yet. I like this review. Short and sweet. Phantom of the Opera is amazing.

Good review for a fantastic album. Better than Killers IMO, but The Number of the Beast and Powerslave are my personal favs, with this album right behind.
Phantom of the Opera, Running Free and Prowler are my fav tracks.

I play the bass with my fingers. Can't understand why people use a pick. Finger-play sounds better and is (IMO, as I've never practiced much with a pick) easier to play fast tunes with!
POTO is probably my fav song of the album, but I love all the songs here. Amazing that a band can make such a fantastic debut album!

Great album. No bad songs. I would have to say the best songs are Phantom of the Opera and Iron Maiden.

Steve Harris is definately a siick bassist and writer and it shows in every song by maiden and phantom of the opera is a great song but its not really all that hard to play on bass not nearly as hard as some of harris' stuff... its hella fun to play tho, if you can :p
wtf tho transylvania is a sick instrumental especially harris' fills at the begginning with some great riffs and it just aint gettin justice with a 3/5!!!

This album is just amazing. Even though it doesn't have the bands best lineup, i think its got some of their best songs. The riffs are amazing, Steve Harris really does the job good in this album. Phantom of the Opera, Iron Maiden, and Prowler would be my favorite songs on it. Easily 5/5!

I'd let Steve Harris punch me in face if he wanted to.
I really enjoy this cd. It took me about 2 years to actually enjoy the song Iron Maiden, though I'm not sure why. Plus I can appreciate a Bruce-less Maiden. After all Iron Maiden = Harris' show.
Transylvania is vastly superior to Genghis Kahn. Even if its just for the maintained blazing speed throughout.
