The bouns tracks are quite good as well. I'd rate them about a 4/5.
The Cross and You is a really great rock track. It doesn't keep the same atmosphere as the rest of the album, so I can see why its a bonus track. No complaints here.
Death is Just a Feeling (Alternate Version) was probably the bonus track I was looking forward to the most since DJF was my favorite track off Angel of Babylon so I was really excited to see what is was. It's just Sammet singing the entire song instead of Jon Oliva, and right away I can tell why they went with Jon Oliva for the lead vocals on the track. It wasn't -horrible- listening to Sammet sing the song, but he definitely wasn't suited for the style of singing it requires. If anything, it's a good look at what would happen with Avantasia if there were no guest vocalists, and Sammet sang every song. Regardless, it's still an interesting track and I won't skip it when it comes up to play, however, I did find it very underwhelming for what I was expecting.

Very good review, but you might wanna edit "Tracks like ‘The Great Mystery’ and the ten minute epic closer ‘The Great Mystery’ ".

Even though Sammet is a huge charlatan, and most of Avantasia albums are cheesy metal operas, some stuff from this is pretty good
|

Sounds like I'd enjoy this, will try it out when I get back home.

It's also worth mentioning that the guitar work is A LOT stronger and more prominent on this album than the past couple which I know was a complaint of some.

Hey man, typo here:
Tracks like ‘The Great Mystery’ and the ten minute epic closer ‘The Great Mystery’
|

And this is too far into the cringe-cheesy side of power metal for me to get into it; BG still remains the standard.

damn opening track is cool

I was kind of disappointed at first, nothing really seemed too memorable. But after a couple listens my opinion changed completely. I thought I would miss some of my favorite guests from past albums (like Jorn and Andre Matos) a lot, but the selection of vocalists for this record turned out great. The guitar work isn’t outstanding, as usual, but the vocal melodies are incredible.
