Ye I can dig it, but "old rock" sounded like a nicer simile to "dad rock"

can't think of a use for "dad rock" that isn't despective tbh

Since most of what I listen to is 70's, this is far from old for me

i've seen people who like dad rock use it non-despectively lol, on sites like this tho

personally i'm open to ideas and feelings, and dad rock culturally describes something that i could possibly like, but idk

lolno, my dad thinks nirvana is satanic metal

thing is it is weird to see bands like, I don't know, King Crimson, being placed in the same category as Alice in Chains

they share that "dad listens to this" quality tho!

well, my family has always been pretty liberal tho. calling rock music "satanic" is such a grandpa music move

it's never been about a genre or a sound, it's more about the cultural place of the music
