I was always curious why there was a fairly noticable shift in the sound of his harsh vox from Tomorrow Comes Today to this/While a Nation Sleeps

I don't know if I correctly catch what you mean, but While a Nation Sleeps might be their heaviest album imo. This however, does not have so many "scream" songs, even tho A Far Cry is sick. If I remember correctly, this album was their first album after dropping the contract with their record company - so they basically did what they wanted and you can clearly hear that based on the variety that's displayed here. While A Nation Sleeps was their comeback album Nathan was around 40 or something then it dropped. Maybe he was simply too old to imitate those screams. But then again: While they were on hiatus, he was in a black metal band so what to I know

Not sure how to describe it fully, but I think there is more 'depth' to his screams on TCT and this was only a 3 year difference in time. Not really talking about the amount of screaming or general heaviness of the album, really, but more the way he actually sounds when he is screaming

I thought the vocals on this and WaNS were pretty similar. His clean singing really hasn't changed much over the years, except he has gotten a little better with each album

Mebbe it's just me. Oh well. Still loves the band

Cool to see more bumps for this band. I enjoy TCT, though I havent known it nearly as long as this, but yeah this album is something special. I wish they had jumped on the popularity bus in 2006 with Rise Against, but I'm almost positive thats just label related. This definitely holds its own with the likes of The Sufferer & The Witness.

The only Boy Sets Fire I ever fully invested myself into was After The Eulogy. Still love that album. If I love that album, what albums after that would I enjoy the most?

I saw the video for Requiem back when it was a single and really liked it, but I didn't look into the band for whatever reason. Every so often, bits and pieces of the song would just get back in my head but I couldn't remember the band or song name and it drove me a little nuts for a while. I finally dug some of the lyrics from the chorus out of my brain at some point and was able to find it on the internet. It was a good find

This was probably just a bit too weird to really catch on back then like Rise Against did, ha

Faded Sun, Id Say Tomorrow Comes Today and the While A Nation Sleeps reunion album for some stuff more similar.

You might dig this a lot too, but it's got a lot of elements ATE didnt... maturity and better songwriting and performances (at least imo). Looking at your ratings, I think you'd like this a lot.

Ecnal, and maybe, but the band's more catchy cuts definitely could have cracked the modern rock charts like rise against did. Melodic political punk, thanks to Green Day, was pretty popular for a while.

tbqh they gained huge popularity here in Germany and still have it. There were hosting their own festival Cologne before COVID. I never understood why they are way more popular here than they are in other countries, but I like it.

Hell, Nathan even wore a "FCK AFD" shirt for their live stream show - AFD is the new alt-right party in Germany. Still beyond me why they were not that successful in the US and elsewhere

Interesting. Was under the impression they had thrown in.

Well hopefully they're writing

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved for them to gain more popularity back then. I probably would have got into them way sooner than 2012 if they did

I have heard they really caught on in Germany. I always was curious why that was the case
