Selfish rules. So infectious. Not any new territory tread whatsoever but it hits for me

Selfish and Sanctified are fine, but I saw a recording of JT playing a song called "No Angels" at one of his recent shows and that one is going to be a vintage Timbaland era banger

It's simple, but that melody is an earworm. A song like that won't carry an otherwise weak album, but if the rest is similar or holds its own, JT will be just fine.

Nah, Lorde belongs to the past. If anything, it's all about Taylor Swift nowadays.

I don't think Taylor has really ever been part of the poptimist movement other than 1989. She's like.....her own thing lol

Lorde had a down album in Solar Power but I think she's hardly in the past considering how huge Pure Heroine and Melodrama were in their respective years. Taylor is definitely her own thing at this point. I'm not well-versed enough in pop history to make a perfectly accurate analogy, but she's got to be considered one of the most popular artists of all time and like her or not, it's kind of interesting to live through whatever this is.

It'll be interesting to see if JT's new album does anything to restore his reputation after the very suspect Man of the Woods.

pure heroine and melodrama are still very very popular albums all these years later.

lorde just needs to drop something that isn't a complete dud and she'll be right back where she was 5-10 years ago. tik tok will keep her relevant forever

Poptimism is for stuff that is super mainstream, and then people hate it cuz it’s mainstream, then people hate that people hate it cuz it’s mainstream, because it’s good. Idt the Alt-Gals really fit that description, they’re music is more designed to be reviewed than blasted.
