Ghandhi, please don't talk shit about Over Under Sideways Down. I mean, I don't know if you're going to, but in case you are, don't.

"Over Under Sideways Down is a cool album"

Look, that album has three names, and that's the one I like the most, ok? Even if the cover for Roger the Engineer is better.

Also, the Byrds are great but The Beatles deserve credit for influencing their jangle sound etc.
|
| |
Nah, that one is pretty shit. And yeah, I'm not going to say The Beatles don't deserve any credit, just that for the most part, they suck.

"The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society is an album I like more than any Beatles album. The Who not only has one, it has three albums that I like more than anything made by The Beatles."
FTFY -- the Beatles might not be your thing but if you try saying they objectively suck I will fucking throw hands my guy

Ok, so I listened to all the well rated Kinks albums again yesterday, to check my sanity. I also listened to this list, which started off well and then became sort of a selection of ditties - pleasant but nothing special. Walter is pretty good and Waterloo Sunset is a great song. If I compare it to my list of fave Beatles songs (which any Beatles fan could make a strong case for replacing just about any of these songs except Day in the Life and I wouldn't be upset), I can say straight out say that you're wrong. Also, 'Gimme Shelter' alone from the Stones is "better" than any of the songs on your Kinks list.
1. A Day in the Life
2. Strawberry Fields Forever
3. Eleanor Rigby
4. I am the walrus
5. Happiness Is a Warm Gun
6. Penny Lane
7. Don't let me down
8. Something
9. Paperback Writer
10. Get Back

''Being honest, I think I can count the songs by the Beatles that I like with just one hand.''
This is saying enough. He doesn't like them (whoa, surprise and shock, who saw that coming).
|

Thought about it, probably being a bit unfair calling 'Shangri La' a ditty. But the chorus bores me.
|
| |
Yep, I think it's rank contrariness Tri.

I've never really liked The Kinks. Only heard Everybody's in Show-Biz though, and I now see that this might have been a very weird place to start...
|
| |
Yeah, they're ok. I can see someone really liking them, but to me they're a bit dull. Like I'm not gonna listen to 'Muswell Hillbillies' ever again, but it's a competent ironic facsimile of Americana. It depends a lot on how clever you think Ray Davies is.
