'The Important Threads' - I like the use of capitalisation here. Someone has to fill these blank pages with equal parts knowledge and drivel, I'll provide the drivel. Give me a while and perhaps I may eventually be able to help in a more useful manner.

Edit: I feel some small solace in the fact we made it to page 3.

Demon, look at it this way, without you we wouldn't be here on page 3 right now. You've done this album a great service.

Happy the capitalisation was noticed. Small details like that get lost in the rush of this fast internet world all too easily.

'You've done this album a great service.'

I blessed it with my insignificant approval, so I tried at least.

How many times has 'Feeling Good' been covered? It feels almost as commonplace as Hallelujah, or maybe that's just my imagination. Regardless, I really enjoy this version.

Haha yeah, it's one of the most covered songs easily I'd say. Nina's version is super nice agreed.

Is this your fave Trifo? - I checked your ratings but there are many Simone 5s, ha.

Edit: High Priestess of Soul is 'next'... or soon anyway.

Oh man it's too hard to pick a fave haha! I try to keep the Nina 5.0s down to a minimum but it feels unfair.

High Priestess is amazing, great pick, you might also want to go for a live one because these really show her personality too. Nina Simone In Concert for instance is incredible. It also has an iconic Nina-moment in the form of Mississippi Goddam, which is something you need to hear to believe.

I'll come back later for that (at a convenient time) thanks, I don't think there's any danger of the links being lost to a barrage of comments given how active these threads are.

Yeah I think that's a safe bet. We've just increased this thread's length by 100% in little over an hour or so.

Nice rating, might bump it myself. Understated beauty personified this one, love the vibe as well - it’s hazy, for want of a better word, clear but not squeaky clean. Sign of the times I guess, really suits the sound. Pretty sure it’s a remaster I’m listening to, but it’s nice that they didn’t screw it up.

I’m on a steady diet of 66-67 era Nina tomorrow.

That sounds like a perfect day. She just knows how to convey a message. Makes every style her own. And that voice.

Yes yes yes. Nina is the best.

EDIT oh oops said the same thing in May apparently. Well, it was true then as well.

Ella should be mentioned here too, got to love her.

Indeed. When it comes greatest ever female vocalists I’d also offer up an entirely different kettle of fish in Karen Carpenter. The underlying ‘grit’ isn’t as pronounced but under the honey lies trouble.

Anyway when it comes to albums this is genuinely one of the greatest ever

Confession time: I don't know who that is. I'll check her because of our shared love for many things zak. Your praise for her inspires trust.
