Its not being naive its a fact. As it is its a plant that has a chemical that if you smoke gets you high

nearly any album will grow on you if you want it to. people would appreciate a lot of albums if they

force themselves to like them and put the time in as they are doing with m b v. just more people

forcing things upon themselves because of the hype surrounding it instead of finding music that they

genuinely love

thanks for the insight, god. all those times you never answered my prayers lo and behold all i had to

do was make a sweeping statement about people wanting to feel included on a music forum and giving

into hype which is a widespread phenomenon in every aspect of life

I loved this album from the moment I first heard it because I knew exactly what to expect

plus, I'm a big sucker for shoegaze/dream pop-ish music

i didn't apply that statement to everyone, only the people who are pretty much forcing themselves to

like it because other people do. (all the comments of people..."I hope this will grow on me!" etc)

You cant force yourself to like anything if its just not good, and most times will make you not like it even more. Yea on occasion something needs to grow on you, and people are more willing to do that with popular albums than some no name schmuckfucks, but if you dont like it you dont like it. Music can grow off you just as easily as grow on you.

In MBV's case they pioneered their genre and have the most acclaimed album in it. An album in which many people have said it does need to grow on them (especially if they never heard shoegaze before, which is likely if they never heard Loveless). So yea I think in MBV's and other great bands' cases they do deserve a little extra leeway because alot of people think they're good for a reason perhaps.
