I don't understand the "uninspired" tags. Lyrics are superb, and they found a nice balance of climax and restraint (that's what she said).

To be fair this didn't do much for me either at first, although uninspired isn't the word I'd have used. Obviously I found it to be a massive grower, though whether other people give it enough of a chance is another matter.

First playthrough, digging this quite a notch. Will give this some more spins for a proper rating though.

Love about everything this band has done, but was disappointed on the first listen. I'm glad you insist it's a grower. One thing about it I found disappointing was the lack of desperation or even dynamics in his vocals. I'm sure I'll like it soon though, same thing happened with their EPs.

This seems to be selling really well. I managed to get the last copy in my local independant, and I'm pretty sure it was the only new release HMV was stocking.

Really enjoying the album. I think Nitrous Gas is my favorite song off the album at the moment.

listened to this about 6 or 7 times now, I'd say you're spot on with the grower tag, but I still dunno if I like it more than MOF or WoMD. Trying to decide if it's 3.5 or 4 atm.

Still digging this after repeated listens. My favourite tracks are Holy, Nitrous Gas and Oil Slick but there really isnt a weak song on the album.

"Acts Of Man commences things with a moody piano while Scott harps about cowardice and insensitivity in such an intrinsically British way that you can’t help smiling/cringing at some of the images he conjures. The payoff in the final minute is worth it though, because only with self-acceptance (“I am just like all the rest of them / Sorry, selfish, trying to improve”) can true change be made."

idk man. the woodpile is horrible, the production is way too cute and the lyrics are pretty lame as well. really disappointed with this, but they've been going progressively downhill since Organ Fight. The Winter of Mixed Drinks was great but the two eps that came out before this are super lame
