I don't need another Rage album tbh. I feel like it would be stale tbh

I don't need another Rage album [2]

Zack could probably elevate them all if we he were to return, but yeah. Prophets of Rage has really soured me on that idea

Only listened to a few songs by them, but it was damn boring. Like, what happened to morello's riffs? Why doen't he give a fuck anymore? His solos were always whacky, but that' kind of the appeal. But he overall peaked on the debut and that's a shame

Some cool stuff here as well, don't get me wrong. But the riffs started to be iterations of the same grooves from here on

The music was never going to make sense without Zack. That's kind of the amazing thing about this band. They just dropped out of the sky with a unique and fully realised blend of groove, energy, lyricism and utterly jawdropping inventiveness. In terms of stunning debut albums RATM is up there with Led Zeppelin I, Van Halen I, and Appetite for Destruction. It's better to catch lightning in a bottle one time (and come pretty damn close a second time like on this album) than to never get there.

Do people look at Evil Empire as their lesser album? See a few comments here that make it seem that way but I love that album too. Debut is probably my favorite though. I only jammed one song from Prophets of Rage but honestly I feel like them dropping something with Zack would be awesome even though that Prophet song was very forgettable.

Evil Empire just is good. But it's not as spontaneous and groovy as the debut (not many albums are tbh) and not as catchy and infectious as The Battle of Los Angeles. Overall it pales a little in comparison.

Evil Empire was a big grower for me. It's not as catchy as this and the debut yeah but it definitely doesn't lack when it comes to groove

Some absolutely sick basslines there

Yeah evil empire is a huge grower. Ultimately I like the debut and this more, but EE is a more than worthy inclusion in their discog

Evil Empire's the best one after the debut imo. Almost as many great riffs and lines as the s/t.

My ratm ranking probably starts at 5 with the s/t and goes down with each release.

Zack has some killer verses too. Underrated album imo. It's just less riff-oriented than this and the debut. Morello took a back seat, hes still great too

See I'm a huge rage fan and a huge cornell fan so youd think itd be a match made in heaven right? It just didnt play out that way. S/t was great dont get me wrong...but nothing compared to either rage's or sg's best material. Out of exile was not good at all tho lol.

I love S/T Audioslave, but it ranks under all Rage albums except Renegades (which I happen to fucking love as well). Evil Empire is propped up hard for me by Snakecharmer and Down Rodeo.

Yeah, I feel you. Rage and Soundgarden's solo stuff is way better but also...Audioslave rules imo

Agreed with both of you. But still, gonna jam Audioslave now lol
