this used to be my jam back in the day

there was that one track with that monstrous opening riff that used to get me going, i think it was Mindrust

"Time Takes Us All" rules too, yeah. So many great riffs on this album. Pretty much all the intros and solos are awesome.

I never gave "One From the Stands" enough credit either. Everyone in the band showcases their talents in that track, plus the lyrics are cool as well.

My favorite album of theirs. The melodies in The Groan of Wind are so good.

it's a Gothenburg album made outside the borders. Less Finnish.

They pull off this less finnish style very well nonetheless.

This is hardly Gothenburg style. More like power and thrash metal influenced melodeath. The riffing patterns are completely different than in the Gothenburg scene, there is little to no trademark use of empty string notes here

I like the comments on the first page saying the guitar work isn't as good as Alexi Laiho's...

Well let me tell you, Alexi's playing live sucks. Doesn't live up to the recording.

That isn't how we measure skill, Antti Kokko is also sloppy live

They are both skilled guitarists, Alexi just happens to show more of his skills, Antti kept it very traditional until the last few albums. It really comes down to taste.

sorry it took so long to see this. I don't think so? I saw them in February and they played two sets, the first set was decent and then the second time they got their sound together really well. They were pretty amazing live. Definitely better than Bodom who I've seen like 5 times live.

That just kind of sounds like he is too lazy to put on a good performance constantly then,

Anyway I should probably put this band higher on my list.
