This has a lot of flair and effortlessness to it in what can be a good or bad way, depending how you look at it, so I can understand why some people would find it disappointing. I personally love it, I'd love driving to this in my convertible in 70s LA with a sunset in my mirror.

It's certainly starting to grow a lot on me these days. The atmosphere might be colder and less inviting, but there's a weird allure to that. Plus, gotta love just how deep the jazz influences run on these later Dan albums

yeah this is that sort of cold detached almost postmodern type of brilliance, such a somber record beneath this veil of slick pop shit, theres an uncanny valley vibe to all this though not sure if that makes sense. fuckin great record
